Romero Leads Lake Erie To Road Win

SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS. — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, rode another excellent pitching performance from Alex Romero en route to a 3-1 win on Saturday night over the Schaumburg Boomers. Schaumburg starter Kit Fowler (1-7) was strong as well but he allowed three runs over 6.1 innings. The first run came in the sixth inning when Aaron Hill homered over the left field wall. That was his third home run of the year. The Crushers scored two more times in the seventh inning. Terry McClure and Zach Racusin singled before Bryan DeLaRosa walked to load the bases. With two outs, Hill stepped in and delivered a two-run double. Hill finished 2-4 with three RBIs. Meanwhile Romero (9-6) was dealing for Lake Erie. The right-hander scattered six hits over eight innings while issuing two walks. In the eighth inning Jack Parenty doubled with one out but Romero struck out the next two batters to end the inning. He finished with four strikeouts in the game. Romero has now thrown 24 consecutive scoreless innings for the Crushers. He was named the Frontier League Pitcher of the Week, last week for his previous performances. Logan Lombana came in for the ninth inning…
