Roa Hits Two Home Runs in Series-Clinching Win

SAUGET, Ill. – Hector Roa, the Wild Things right fielder, matched two game highsfor the Wild Things in 2017 as the Washington Wild Things [36-29] were able to clinch a series win against the Gateway Grizzlies (20-46), by winning Saturday night 6-1. Washington fans got their first taste of right-hander Ethan Gibbons on the mound for the Wild Things, as the newest pitcher on the roster tossed six innings of one run ball in his debut with the team after getting the starting nod. Gibbons, with the win, is now 6-4 on the season. He gave up four hits and walked one while punching out four Grizzlies. The lone run came on a home run by Joel McKeithan in the first inning. The scoring started early for the Wild Things as first baseman Kane Sweeney hit a solo shot in the first inning to give Washington a lead. After the McKeithan home run, it was all Wild Things, as the next five runs were accounted for by two Roa home runs.
