RIVER CITY’S HECTOR HERNANDEZ SIGNS WITH CLEVELAND

The River City Rascals today announced that 2018 All-Star pitcher Hector Hernandez has signed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians. Hernandez, 27, played the 2017 and 2018 seasons with the Rascals, compiling an 18-15 record with a 3.55 ERA. The 2018 All-Star led the Rascals pitching staff last season in complete games (2), innings pitched (117.0) and strikeouts (107). Originally a 10th round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2009, the southpaw from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico played parts of the 2015 and 2016 season with AAA Reno. He joins the Indians organization after posting a 2.18 ERA in six starts with Santurce of the Puerto Rican Winter League. The defending West Division champion Rascals begin the 2019 campaign against the Washington Wild Things on May 9th at CarShield Field.
