RASCALS SWEEP NORMAL TO WIN 11TH STRAIGHT GAME

Zeb Sneed notched his tenth quality start of the year and four consecutive hits in the bottom of the fourth inning was just enough for the River City Rascals (48-42) to extend their winning streak to eleven games with a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon at CarShield Field against the Normal CornBelters (43-46). Along with the Rascals adding one more win to the longest winning streak in Manager Steve Brook’s career, it was their seventh sweep and the Rascals are now three and a half games up for the final wild card spot with six games to play. After scoring 39 runs over the previous three games, the opponent needed to find a pitcher to cool down the Rascals bats and for the Belters it was right-hander Chris Carmain’s turn in the rotation. Carmain’s opposition on the mound was second year Rascal Zeb Sneed and they each kept the opponent off the scoreboard the first three innings despite each team having runners in scoring position. The Rascals broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning and had a combined five baserunners in the inning. Johnny Morales led off with a four pitch walk and then an unsuccessful hit and run attempt…
