River City Rascals’ outfielder Kyle Gaedele and Joliet Slammers’ relief pitcher Brent Choban were named Frontier League Players and Pitcher of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Gaedele, in his sixth season of professional baseball, and first season in the Frontier League managed to get 11 hits in his 24 at bats. To start off the week, Gaedel went 4-5 against the Freedom, with 2 RBI, 1 SB, 1 double, and 3 runs scored. He followed up this impressive performance with a 3-3 night on Thursday, with 1 double, 3 RBI, 1 run scored, and 1 BB. In the weekend series verses the Miners Gaedele went 4-12 with 3 homeruns, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. This took his season average up to .298 hitting with 19 runs, 25 hits, 7 doubles, 3 homeruns, 8 stolen basses, and 15 RBIs. Before joining the Frontier League, Gaedele spent his time in the Northwest League, Midwest League, California League, and Texas League with the Padres organization.
