The Texas Rangers have promoted Brendan Sagara to co-pitching coach at the Major League level. Sagara had been serving as a Special Assistant, Player Development for the Rangers along with the pitching coach for their Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds. He spent the 2020 season at the Rangers’ alternate training site. Sagara made his professional debut as a late-season addition for the Evansville Otters in 1999, posting a 1.59 ERA in four regular season appearances. Sagara helped Evansville to the 1999 West Division title, their last division title until 2019. Sagara’s professional coaching career began with the 2001 Dubois County Dragons, helping the team to a 13-win improvement and their first division title. He returned to the Dragons in 2002, again winning the West Division, then followed the club as they became the Kenosha Mammoths (2003) and Springfield-Ozark Ducks (2004).
