AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, used a strong pitching performance to pave the way for another come from behind victory, as they took the rubber match in a three-game series with the Evansville Otters, winning the series finale, 3-2, at Sprenger Health Care Stadium on Wednesday night. The win for the Crushers (20-27) was their fourth in their last six games, marking their second straight series victory, while the loss for the Otters (26-20) was their third in their last four games overall. Lake Erie used the trio of Connor Reed (2-5), Andrew Utterback and Chandler Jagodzinski (11) to hold the Otters to just a pair of runs on six hits. Evansville struck first, plating a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning. Reed faced one over the minimum through his first three innings, before the Otters scored twice on four hits in the fourth. Dane Phillips reached on a one out double, and came home moments later on Alejandro Segovia’s RBI double down the right field line.
