EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Behind three Dane Phillips’ home runs, the Evansville Otters cruised to a 7-3 victory over the River City Rascals in front of 1,022 at Bosse Field Tuesday. Phillips hit his first homer in the bottom of the first, giving the Otters a 1-0 lead. He hit his second in the sixth, another solo shot to give Evansville a 3-2 lead, before unloading a three-run homer to center in the seventh to extend the lead to 7-2. The three-homer night ties a Frontier League record for home runs in a single game and Phillips joins former Otter Jeff Goldbach as Otters players to homer three times in a game. Goldbach accomplished his feat on Aug. 20, 2005 against River City. Soat continued his offensive production in the second with an RBI single that gave the Otters a 2-0 lead. In the fifth, Braxton Martinez hit and RBI single and Josh Silver scored on a wild pitch. Austin Sweet earned the victory for Evansville, pitching two innings in relief while allowing just three hits and no runs.
