TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Kendall Patrick hit his first homer of the year, propelling the Traverse City Beach Bums(8-13) to a 5-4 win over the Schaumburg Boomers(8-14). The Beach Bums brought nine men to the plate in the first inning, scoring four runs, to get off to a fast start. Ryan Bottger and Steven Patterson each singled, then Jose Vargas hit an RBI double to drive in Bottger. Will Kengor then followed with a 2 run single to right to bring in Patterson and Vargas. Kendall Patrick rounded out the big inning with an RBI single to center to plate Kengor. After a scoreless second, Schaumburg started to chip away at the lead. Starting off the comeback in the third inning was Jordan Dean with a 2-run double that drove home Justin Byrd and Josh Gardiner, cutting the Bums’ advantage in half. Ino Patron slammed a triple into the right field gap with one out in the fourth, then, James Keller drove him in with an RBI single to right, pulling Schaumburg within one. In the sixth, Mikal Hill, Patron, and Keller each singled with one out to load the bases. With a full count, Gardiner walked to tie the game…
