Otters survive Close Game Over Crushers

AVON, Ohio– The Evansville Otters gave up a three run lead on two home runs, but defeated the Lake Erie Crushers 4-3. Josh Allen provided a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth to push the Otters to the victory. Evansville (26-19) jumped out to an early lead over the Crushers in the third inning on a solo home run from John Schultz. Schultz left Monday’s game due to an undisclosed injury. His status is unknown for tomorrow’s game. Manny De Jesus came up big in Schultz’s absence delivering a two RBI single in the fourth inning to push the Otters to a 3-0 lead. Lake Erie (18-27) came roaring back. In the fifth inning, Sean Hurley put the Crushers on the board with a solo home run off of starter Luc Rennie. Then in the sixth inning, Lake Erie tied the game on a two run home run from Jordan Dean. Shane Weedman came in to relieve Rennie in his first day off the disabled list.
