Normal CornBelters’ outfielder Dillon Haupt and Florence Freedoms’ starting pitcher Jeremy Gooding are this week’s Frontier League Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Haupt takes home this week’s honors after hitting safely in all 3 games he appeared in during the first week of the Frontier League regular season.  The hot streak to start the season includes 5 total hits out of 12 at bats, 2 of those being doubles, and 1 of those hits being a homerun. Within this impressive hitting Haupt also managed to get a total of 8 RBI and 5 runs scored.  This streak brought his season batting average to an impressive .417. Haupt, 25, originally hails from San Diego, California also where he attended school at University of Sand Diego. Haupt was drafted in 20th round by the Chicago White Sox in the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft. Last season he was with the Frontier Greys who are currently no longer playing in the Frontier League, where he hit .267, 12 home runs, 34 RBIs with playing just 77 games.
