SAUGET, Ill. – Normal’s Charlie Gillies and Jesus Solorzano have been named Week 13 Frontier League Pitcher and Player of the Week as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. The CornBelters dealt the Gateway Grizzlies a 4-0 loss behind the dominant pitching of Charlie Gillies. Gillies, a second year starter for the CornBelters, pitched a complete game-shutout on Sunday afternoon. Charlie let up just four hits and two walks, while striking out eight including 2017 All-Star outfielder, Blake Brown. The Castaic, California native turned the shutout into another win and moved to 5-7 on fourteen starts with a 4.13 ERA. The righty has sixty-eight strikeouts on the season. The shutout was his first of his Frontier League career. Gillies is currently in his 6th professional season and was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2012. Jesus Solorzano had one of the most impressive outings for a Player of the Week this season.
