NORMAL, Ill. – The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, broke a five-game skid with an 9-5 victory over the Florence Freedom on Wednesday night at the Corn Crib. The Freedom struck first in the second inning when two batters reached on errors followed by a home run to left field by Ryan Rinsky for a quick 3-0 lead. The CornBelters tallied in their second on a bases-loaded walk to Cam Adams and a fielder’s choice by Michael Baca one batter later to slice the deficit to 3-2. A two-run homer by Sean Hurley that just snuck over the left field fence put the Belters in the lead 4-3 in the third inning. Florence tied the game in the fourth by loading the bases with nobody out on two walks and a single and scored a run on a double play. Baca gave the Belters a 5-4 lead on a two-out homer just over the left field wall in the fourth inning. Normal extended the lead to 6-4 in the fifth frame when Santiago Chrino doubled, went to third on a Derrick Loveless single and scored on a fielder’s choice by Andrew Godbold.…
