MINERS TAB SCHAUB AS NEW HITTING COACH

The Southern Illinois Miners are pleased to announce the hiring of Dave Schaub as the team’s new hitting coach and third base coach for the upcoming 2017 season. A native of Canton, Ohio, Schaub has spent the last three seasons as the hitting and third base coach for the Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association. The 2017 season will be his eighth season as a coach in professional baseball, having previously worked in the Frontier League as the hitting coach of the Lake Erie Crushers from 2009-2012, including the team’s championship season in 2009. Schaub also spent six years as the head JV/assistant varsity coach at Canton Central Catholic High School. In addition, he has been the hitting coordinator at the Massarelli Baseball School in Ohio for nine years, run by former Frontier League manager John Massarelli, under whom he coached both with Lake Erie and Kansas City. “Dave has had success in our league, has worked with a wide range of players and has a depth of experience that will help our hitters each day,” Miners manager Mike Pinto said. “He has been through a successful championship run and knows how to help his hitters prepare for the…
