MINERS’ OUTFIELDER KENNEDY; BEACH BUMS PITCHER GALLARDO TAKE SEASON FINAL WEEK 17 AWARDS

Southern Illinois Miners’outfielder Shane Kennedy and Traverse City Beach Bums’ starting pitcher Augie Gallardo were named 2016 Frontier League season final Players and Pitcher of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Kennedy, in his first season of professional baseball managed to get 14 hits in his 25 at bats this week. To start off the week, Kennedy went 2-3 versus the Grizzlies where he managed to get 1 home run, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base, and 1 run scored.  He then followed this impressive performance Thursday against the Grizzlies again getting 4 hits in his 6 at bats. Kennedy, hit 1 double, 1 home run, got 3 RBI, and 4 runs scored this game. In the weekend series verses the Rascals Kennedy hit 7-12 with 1 double, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored.  He finished the regular season hitting an impressive league leading .363 batting average in 76 games played with 24 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, 47 RBI, and 34 stolen bases.
