MINERS’ MICHAEL AUSTIN TOSSES NO-HITTER IN 2-0 WIN OVER LAKE ERIE

Catch up on a crazy night of Frontier League action Tuesday with a recap of it all: Southern Illinois Miners pitcher Michael Austin tossed a no-hitter in a 2-0 game two win in the doubleheader between the Miners and the Lake Erie Crushers. Game one finished as a 1-0 Crushers victory. The lone run was scored on a Trevor Achenbach RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Gunnar Kines of the Miners and Ryan Feierabend of the Crushers were both dominant in their starts on the mound. In game two, the only offense came from an RBI groundout from Ian Walters in the first and an RBI single from Walters in the fifth. The rest of the game was dominated by the pitching performance of Michael Austin. He threw only 87 pitches in the start, giving up only two walks and striking out five in the first individual no-hitter…
