Marion, Ill. (April 11, 2016) – The Southern Illinois Miners announce that they have hired John Wilson as their new General Manager. He replaces longtime GM Tim Arseneau, who left the team in September for a job in the San Diego Padres organization in Lake Elsinore, California. John comes to the Miners with significant, high-level experience in sports. Most recently, he was the Director of Sales this past year for the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, after previously serving as the team’s Director of Ticket Sales for three years. Wilson has worked in the sports field since 2004, and in addition to Pawtucket has spent time in baseball with the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. He also worked most notably as a sales representative for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009 to 2011 and as a premium seating executive with the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA.
