Right-hander pitches five-hitter as Southern Illinois snaps four-game slide Washington, PA (August 23, 2019) – The Southern Illinois Miners beat the Washington Wild Things on Friday night 5-0 thanks to a dominant performance on the mound from Ryan McAuliffe, who threw a nine-inning, five-hit shutout to help the club snap a four-game losing streak and take the opener of the road series at Wild Things Park. After allowing a leadoff single to Ryan Cox in the first inning, McAuliffe (6-3) bore down from there, getting a double-play ground ball to shortstop off the bat of J.R. Davis to erase Cox, and start a streak of 12 straight batters retired in the game.
