JOLIET, IL — Led by a big 1st inning, a strong start from Matt Quintana and a clutch performance from Peyton Isaacson, the Joliet Slammers outlasted the River City Rascals at home Wednesday night. Harrison Bragg brought in the first run of the game in the bottom of the 1st on a single to center field with the bases loaded. Isaacson followed that up in the next at-bat by drawing a walk that brought Chaz Meadows home from third. In his first career plate appearance for the Slammers, Jimmy Roche drew another walk, allowing Dash Winningham to score. Rascals starter Alex Winkleman was then pulled in favor of Andrew Vernon, who inherited another bases-loaded situation with just one out in the inning.
