AVON, OH – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, finished off their season series with the Traverse City Beach Bums with a 5-3 win on Thursday night. The Crushers (42-45) clinched the season series with the triumph over the Beach Bums (33-52). Traverse City grabbed an early lead with a run in the first. Jeff DeBlieux led off with a single, and after he stole second, Steve Patterson knocked him in with a ground-rule double for a 1-0 advantage. The Crushers finally broke through with a run in the sixth. A bobbled ball at short allowed leadoff man, Sean Hurley, to reach safely. After a flyout off the bat of Jordan Dean, Conner Simonetti and Brandon Murray strung together back-to-back singles to plate Hurley and tie the game at one. Lake Erie took advantage of another Beach Bums miscue to take the lead in the eighth. Jordan Dean popped up to first to start the inning, but Luke Lowery dropped the ball, leaving Dean on second.
