Lake Erie’s Romero and Traverse City’s Lohr take home third week awards

Lake Erie’s Alex Romero and Traverse City’s Steve Lohr were named Frontier League Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Alex Romero playing his first season in the Frontier League earned his honors this week by striking out seven batters and only allowing one hit over 7.0 shutout innings as the Lake Erie Crushes went on to defeat the Gateway Grizzlies 1-0 on May 24th. Prior to joining the Lake Erie Crushers Romero spent last season with the Baltimore Orioles organization where he appeared in games for both the Gulf Coast Orioles and the Fredrick Keys. The right-handed pitcher posts a career record of 25-37 with a 3.66 earned run average while striking out 392 over 528.1 innings. Steve Lohr playing in his first season in the Frontier League earned his honors this week by hitting safely in 10 of his 19 at bats for a .526 batting average over the last week.
