Lake Erie Tops Washington in 13 Innings

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, finished off a three game sweep of the Washington Wild Things on Sunday night with an epic 6-5 win in 13 innings. Lake Erie had the lead for the majority of the game after scoring a run in the fourth inning off of Wild Things starter Chase Cunningham. An RBI single by Doug Trimble made it 1-0. Lake Erie starter Micah Beyer pitched well for Lake Erie. The rookie went six innings before allowing an unearned run in the sixth to tie the game. He finished with six strikeouts while allowing just three hits. Washington took the lead in the seventh when Hector Roa homered off of Branden Nunn, making it 2-1. The Crushers rallied in the ninth against closer Zack Strecker. Cody Lenahan led the inning off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a throwing error. The game tying hit came from Dustin Williams who singled into left field. The Crushers got some help from their defense in the bottom of the ninth. With the winning run on base, former Crusher, Conner Simonetti hit a ball into deep left but Tyler Cowles made a sliding catch…
