Lake Erie Crushers Defeat Joliet 6-5

AVON, Ohio – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, erased an early 4-0 deficit at Sprenger Healthcare Stadium on Saturday night, and came from behind to defeat the Joliet Slammers, 6-5. The win for the Crushers (1-1) was their sixth in their last eight games against the Slammers (1-1). Joliet did a lot of their damage early on with two outs. In the top of the first inning, Juan Silva kept the inning alive by smashing a double to left, and the next batter, Rock Shoulders, belted a two-run homer to right to give the Slammers a 2-0 lead. The Slammers used the long ball to add to their advantage in the top of the third. Shoulders struck again with a two-out double down the right field line, and came home a few pitches later as Edwin Gomez smashed a two-run homer over the wall in right-center to give the Slammers a 4-0 advantage. Lake Erie cut into the deficit with a three-run fourth inning, and did so with five base hits. Connor Oliver started the inning on a single to left field, and came around to score on Sean Hurley’s RBI base hit to left. Hurley touched home…
