Marion, Ill. (May 15, 2016) –The Southern Illinois Miners bounced back on Sunday from a Saturday defeat against the Traverse City Beach Bums, getting another quality start on the mound, this time from Josh Kimborowicz, and a consistent offensive effort to beat the Beach Bums 6-4, claiming the series at Rent One Park two games to one. The Miners got started right away with their bats, with Craig Massey leading off the game with a double. He moved to third on a groundout and then scored on an RBI single from Nolan Earley to make it 1-0 in the first inning. Massey would triple to lead off the third inning in his next at-bat, with Earley also coming through with another single to drive him in and make the score 2-0 Miners. Meanwhile, Kimborowicz (1-0) was perfect with five strikeouts through three innings. A leadoff double by Jeff DeBlieux and a sacrifice fly later in the frame by Jose Vargas got the Beach Bums on the board and made the score 2-1, but Southern Illinois tacked on two more that same inning against Michael Shreves (0-1) on an RBI single by Toby DeMello and an RBI fielder’s choice by Massey,…
