SAUGET, Ill. –Joliet’s Duke von Schamann and Gateway’s Terry McClure have been named Week 16 Pitcher and Player of the Week as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Joliet Slammer Duke von Schamann, earns his first Pitcher of the Week honor after impressive starts against Windy City and Traverse City last week. Against the ThunderBolts, DVS went seven innings, allowed three runs (two earned), eight hits, one walk and struck out eight. The Slammers lost 3-4. He received a no-decision in the contest. The Edmond, Oklahoma native was called upon by Slammers manager Jeff Isom to start Sunday against the Beach Bums and he did not disappoint. Duke pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits and struck out seven in his thirty-one batters faced. The Slammers won 1-0. The 6’4 righty is now in his first season in the Frontier League after spending 2012 to 2014 in the Dodgers organization, 2014 to 2015 in the Indians organization and 2016 in the American Association.
