Hurley Crushes Two as Lake Erie Takes Series

AVON, OH – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, rode a two-homer, five-RBI performance from Sean Hurley to take a 6-3 win over the Joliet Slammers in a Mother’s Day finale at Sprenger Healthcare Stadium. The Crushers (2-1) collected their second consecutive win to take the series two games to one over the Slammers (1-2). The Crushers broke open the scoring in a big way in the bottom of the second. After a leadoff double from Connor Oliver, Sean Hurley smacked a two-run dinger to right field, giving Lake Erie a 2-0 lead. Josh McAdams added a third extra-base hit with a one-out double, and scored on a two-out single from Parker Norris put the Crushers up 3-0 after two. Lake Erie doubled its lead with three more tallies in the third. Back-to-back singles from Jordan Dean and Cody Lenehan put runners on first and second with no one gone. After an Oliver strikeout, Hurley stroked his second homer in as many at bats to double the Crushers lead. The Slammers finally broke onto the scoreboard in the top of the seventh.
