HEYMAN’S GAME THREE WALK-OFF SINGLE PUTS WILD THINGS ONE WIN AWAY FROM TITLE

The Washington Wild Things used a walk-off single by Grant Heyman in the tenth inning to defeat the Schaumburg Boomers 3-2 and take a 2-1 series lead in the Frontier League Championship Series. The game was a true pitcher’s duel, with neither team allowing a run until the seventh inning. That was when Schaumburg’s Matt Bottcher singled home a run to give the Boomers the 1-0 lead. The next inning, Joe Campagna scored on a wild pitch to tie the game for Washington, but in the ninth, Bottcher scored on an error that allowed Chase Dawson to reach first safely and make it a 2-1 game. The Wild Things fought right back in the bottom of the ninth when Tristan Peterson brought home Trevor Casanova to tie it and send the game to extra innings.
