SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, and the Schaumburg Boomers found themselves locked in a back-and-fourth battle as the Crushers overcame the Boomers five run fifth inning, to win, 9-8 on Tuesday night at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium. For the Crushers (40-45), this is the sixth win in 10 tries against the Boomers this season. Lake Erie is 14-11 in one-run games. Tonight’s loss for Schaumburg (37-48) is their third in a row. The Boomers are 7-11 in the month of August. The Boomers took their first and only lead of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Jordan Dean doubled to left field, moved to third base on a groundout and scored via sacrifice fly off the bat of Kenny Towns. The Crushers went to work offensively in the top of the second inning. With one out, Boomers’ starting pitcher, Kagen Hopkins, walked Sean Hurley and allowed Parker Norris to single to right field.
