Grizzlies Grab Their First Win Of The Preseason

SAUGET, Ill.– The Grizzlies started off Saturday night’s game on a high note. Will Anderson, the former St. Louis Cardinals minor league prospect, was outstanding in his first start of the preseason. Anderson pitched through three innings and did not allow one base runner, while also tallying four strikeouts. “He was pretty dialed in on both sides of the plate. His ball moves a lot,” Grizzlies’ skipper Phil Warren said. “If he’s in the zone he’s going to be tough to beat. If he stays healthy he’s going to be a big part of our rotation.” Grizzlies scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the 4th inning after Rascals third baseman, Connor Tekyl, made the only error of the game with a wild throw to first. The Rascals answered in the top of the 5th with a two-run blast from Mike Jurgella to give River City a 2-1 lead. The Grizzlies retired the first 14 batters of the game before giving up two straight hits to the Rascals, including the home run by Jurgella, in the 5th inning.
