SAUGET, Ill. — After scoring only 11 runs over the first four games of their homestand this week, the Gateway Grizzlies’ bats came alive for nine runs over just four offensive innings Saturday night and cruised past the Washington Wild Things, 9-3, in a rain-shortened affair at GCS Credit Union Ballpark. Gateway (9-11) snapped a four-game losing streak. The game lasted only four-and-a-half innings before the rain and high winds arrived, but Washington (6-15) had batted five times to make it an official game. After the Wild Things struck for a run in the top of the first inning, the Grizzlies fired back with nine unanswered tallies over the first four innings. Andrew Daniel continued his fantastic weekend with a 2-for-3 performance.
