GOODING NAMED FRONTIER LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Florence, Ky. – After a stellar start on Opening Night, Jeremy Gooding has been named the Frontier League Pitcher of the Week for the third time in his career. The right-hander from Livonia, Mich. continued his Frontier League success by earning the win in a 7-1 Freedom victory. He allowed just one run and four hits in 6.1 innings, while striking out seven and walking none. After allowing a home run to Windy City’s Reggie Lawson in the top of the second, Gooding did not let a runner reach second base in his final five-plus innings. At one point, the Freedom ace sat down ten ThunderBolts in a row. Dating back to last season, Gooding is 4-0 with a 0.76 ERA in his last five Frontier League starts (35.1 innings). During that stretch he has struck out 28, while allowing just 24 men to reach base via hits or walks. Florence (1-2) returns to action on Wednesday when they matchup with the River City Rascals in a doubleheader.
