Sauget, Ill. – The Gateway Grizzlies used three pitchers to throw a one-hitter against the Lake Erie Crushers on Saturday night at GCS Ballpark as the Grizzlies cruised to a 5-1 win. RHP Adam Eggnatz, LHP Jon Jones, and RHP Jordan Wellander combined to allow just one baserunner after the second inning and protected a lead throughout the evening. The Grizzlies (27-28) have now won two straight games against Lake Erie (24-27). LISTEN: GRIZZLIES RADIO NETWORK HIGHLIGHTS After Eggnatz (4-1) gave up an unearned run in the first inning, Gateway’s bats responded immediately in the bottom half of the frame. Cody Livesay started things with a leadoff bunt single against Crushers starter Steve Hagen (3-3). After a walk to Craig Massoni, the Grizzlies evened the score on Brandon Thomas‘ RBI single. Tyler Tewell then stepped in and laced a single into right field to give Gateway a 2-1 edge. Blake Browncapped off the frame with a sac fly to plate Thomas as the Grizzlies took a 3-1 lead.
