Frontier League Announces Special Moment for Hall of Fame Induction

SAUGET, Ill. – Since the inception of the Frontier League Hall of Fame in 2014, the league has selected a “Special Moment in League History” to be honored. This Year’s “special moment” is June 30, 1993. This date is being honored because it was the first Opening Night in Frontier League history. Eight teams took their respective fields. The Tri-State Tomahawks hosted the West Virginia Coal Sox, the Kentucky Rifles hosted the Ohio Valley Redcoats, the Lancaster Scouts visited the Zanesville Greys and the Portsmouth Explorers journeyed to the Chillicothe Paints. That night, the Frontier League was officially born. Commissioner Bill Lee says, “June 30, 1993 is the most important date in League history. It marked the beginning. I guarantee that no one on that night dreamed of celebrating that date 25 seasons later. They also would not have envisioned the Frontier League to be the longest operating League in Independent Professional Baseball history. We want to thank everyone from the players, coaches, owners, staffs and fans for blazing the trail and opening the door to bigger and better things.” As a part of the celebration and induction of June 30, 1993, there will be two individuals that will speak…
