FORMER BOOMER CONNER REED NAMED PITCHING COACH

The Schaumburg Boomers have announced the addition of Connor Reed to the 2021 coaching staff. He will serve as the team’s pitching coach. Reed, 26, enters his first season as a professional coach after spending the 2019 season as a pitcher for the Boomers. He replaces Tony Smith, who joined the Detroit Tigers organization as a player development coach. Prior to the 2019 season with the Boomers, Reed spent two seasons pitching for the Lake Erie Crushers (2016-2017). During his Frontier League career, he pitched 220-plus innings both as a starter and reliever. He racked up a record of 12-16 with a 4.33 ERA and 161 strikeouts. “I am very excited to bring Connor on as our pitching coach,” said manager Jamie Bennett. “He has really progressed over the last couple of years as an instructor and has gotten a lot of positive feedback in his time at AHQ.
