OLIET, Il– In a matinee finale at Joliet Route 66 Stadium, the Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, emerged victorious, 4-2, over the first-place in the East Division, Joliet Slammers, notching their fifth series victory in their last six sets. Freedom (30-29) hurler, Chuck Weaver (3-3), tallied quality start number four on the way to his third win of the season, out-dueling Joliet (34-26) ace, Liam O’Sullivan (6-3) to the tune of two earned runs over six solid innings. The right-hander scattered four hits and totaled four whiffs with four walks in the winning effort. It was the Slammers who scored first in the finale, plating a first-inning run off Weaver courtesy a Justin Garcia sacrifice fly to center with runners on second and third. The RBI was the Frontier League leading forty-eighth of the season for Garcia. Weaver would spin out of a jam in the second inning, keeping Joliet off the board despite the Slammers loading the bases with one out. Florence seized momentum when London Lindley flew out to right for the second out of the inning, and saw Ricky Ramirez Jr. fire home anticipating a play at the plate.
