Florence Sweeps Double Header Over Windy City

FLORENCE, Ky –The Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, started their nine game home stand in strong fashion on Wednesday night, utilizing a late grand slam in game one and dominant starting pitching to earn, 7-5, and, 3-0, wins, respectively, at UC Health Stadium. In game one, the Thunderbolts (10-17) sprinted out to a quick start against Freedom (13-16) starter Jordan Kraus (2-2). Tyler Straub put the Thunderbolts up early, 1-0, with his first of three homers in the game, a solo shot to right-center. The Windy City lead expanded to three in the second inning courtesy a two-run blast from Ransom LaLonde that sailed over the wall in left. Straub connected on his second solo shot of the night in the top of fourth, giving the Thunderbolts a, 4-0, advantage. Florence cut the deficit in half in the home half, however plating two after loading the bases. Ryan Rinsky started the frame with a walk ahead of back-to-back singles from Austin Wobrock and Freedom newcomer Ricky Ramirez.
