Florence Freedom pitcher Steve Hagen and position player Jordan Brower were named Frontier League Pitcher and Players of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Steve Hagen came to Florence from a trade with Lake Erie on July 29, 2017. In his first start of the season Hagen picked up the win over Joliet (10-1) going six innings while striking out 8 and not allowing a run. Prior to joining the Florence Freedom, Hagen spent the previous three years for the Lake Erie Crushers, where Hagen also earned the starting pitching spot on the East Division All-Star Team in 2016. Hagen posts a career 17-12 record and 3.69 ERA in 270.2 innings. Jordan Brower who came to Florence in 2016 after appearing in 13 games that year with Southern Illinois, earned his honor after hitting .538 over the weekend with one home run and seven runs batted in.
