The Schaumburg Boomers will meet the Washington Wild Things Tuesday at Wintrust Field in the first game of their best-of-five series to determine the 2021 Frontier League Champion. Because of the suspended 2020 season, this year’s champion will be the first crowned since the 2019 River City Rascals. The Boomers (51-45), this year’s Central Division and Midwestern Conference Champions, come off their 3-1 FLDS victory over the West Division’s Florence Y’alls, who finished the season with the Frontier League’s best regular season record at 57-38. After a 5-1 victory in game one, Schaumburg dropped the second game by a run before taking game’s three and four in Florence to clinch their spot in the Championship Series. They outscored the Y’alls 27-12 in the four games. Schaumburg is led by 2021 Frontier League MVP Quincy Nieporte, who batted .343 with 17 home runs in the regular season, and is currently batting…
