AVON, OH – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, collected their fifth straight victory with a walk-off win over the Florence Freedom on Sunday afternoon. The Crushers (23-27) picked up their first sweep of the year, while the Freedom (32-19) dropped their fifth consecutive contest. The Crushers got things rolling early with a two-out rally in the first. After Austin O’Brien drew a walk, Sean Hurley smacked a double to bring in the first run of the game and give Lake Erie a 1-0 advantage after one. After a scoreless second inning, the Freedom knotted things up in the third. Daniel Fraga led off the frame, placing a ball over the wall in right to even the score at one apiece. Neither team could break the tie before the top of the 11th inning. With Fraga starting at second, Taylor Oldham grounded out to second to put the runner 90 feet from home. After the Crushers intentionally walked Jose Brizuela, Andre Mercuiro flew a ball to Connor Oliver in center to bring in Fraga and put the Freedom up 2-1. Lake Erie was not fazed in the home half.
