Evansville’s Medick and Florence’s Ewing Named Pitcher and Player of the Week Award Winners

Evansville Otters pitcher Spencer Medick and Florence Freedom position player Skyler Ewing were named Frontier League Pitcher and Players of the Week, as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Spencer Medick comes to the Evansville Otters after having spent time with the Joliet Slammers and Southern Illinois Miners. Medick earned his honors this week after getting a no decision in his lone start, where he went 7.0 innings allowing only two hits and striking out nine. Medick was the first overall pick in the 2014 Frontier League by the Frontier Greys. During spring training that season Medick was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Arlington, VA native has a career record of 13-8 with a 4.01 earned run average. He has made 28 starts in his 47 appearances striking out 129 over 188.1 innings pitched. Skyler Ewing who comes to Florence after spending the beginning of the year in Jupiter with the Miami Marlins organization. Ewing earned his honor after going 7-14 over the last three games.
