Evansville Otters outfielder Jeffrey Baez and Schaumburg Boomers right-hander Ryan Middendorf have won this week’s Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. These awards are chosen by Pointstreak, who is the official statistical provider of the Frontier League. Baez takes home his first Player of the Week award and Evansville’s third weekly award this season, after Riley Krane won Player of the Week and Braden Scott won Pitcher of the Week earlier in the season. Baez led the league this week with six home runs as part of thirteen hits. He recorded ten RBIs and hit .464 over six games this week. The 27-year-old was a midseason acquisition for the Otters and is in his first season in the Frontier League. He was acquired in a trade with the Kane County Cougars of the American Association.
