Crushers Take Both Ends of Twin Bill Against Boomers

AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, won both ends of a double header at Sprenger Health Care Stadium on Saturday night, defeating the Schaumburg Boomers 8-0 in game one, and 3-2 in game two. The victories for the Crushers (18-25) snapped a three-game slide, while Boomers (28-15) have now lost five in a row. Lake Erie took the first game, 8-0, after Juan Caballero (2-1) delivered a complete game shutout, and they won the second game on Jordan Dean’s walk off single in the bottom of the eighth. In the first contest of the day, the Boomers squandered a pair of chances to score early on. They stranded runners at second and third in the second inning, and stranded a pair again in the top of the third before the Crushers struck for a pair of runs in the third inning to take the lead. The two-run rally was started by the bottom of the Lake Erie batting order. Newly acquired Connor Sullivan started it by belting an 0-2 pitch down the left field line for a leadoff double. Parker Norris drove him home on the very next pitch with a RBI double to right center…
