AVON, OH – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, finished off a six-game homestand by taking down the Gateway Grizzlies, 7-4. The Crushers (12-15) won both series of the homestand, while the Grizzlies (7-20) dropped the second series of their road trip. The Grizzlies struck early with a run in the first. For the second contest in a row, Cody Livesay led off with a bunt single, and after he was caught attempting to steal second, Matt Hearn added a single of his own. In the next at bat, Blake Brown hit a hard grounder back to the mound, and Jordan Kurokawa skipped a throw past the shortstop Max Casper, leaving runners on first and second. Gateway took advantage of the miscue when Zach Lavy connected for an RBI base hit to open the scoring, 1-0. The Crushers came back to take the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Sean Hurley led off with a single, and Cody Lenahan put Lake Erie on top with a two-run bomb to right field. Lake Erie opened up a big lead with a four-run fourth.
