The game was delayed with one out in the top of the ninth inning, after a set of lights above the third base concourse went out. For the Crushers (15-14) the victory marked their second straight in a series opener, while the loss for the Beach Bums (9-21) was their fifth in a row. The runs came early and often for the Crushers, as they plated runs in each of the first three innings, and they never trailed in the contest. Carlos Avila began the bottom of the first inning with a single to center field, before Cody Herald‘s sacrifice bunt moved him to second base.
