CRESTWOOD, IL – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, took a thrilling, 9-7 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts on Wednesday night. The Crushers (38-41) won just their third game over Windy City (42-37) in eight meetings. The Crushers jumped out to an early lead in the first. Jordan Dean drew a one-out walk, and Conner Simonetti put runners on first and third with a single in the next at bat. Sean Hurley followed with a hard groundball that was bobbled by Riley Krane at third, and an errant throw home allowed Dean to score and put Lake Erie up 1-0. The Crushers blew the game open with a three-run third. Bryan De La Rosa reached on a one-out single, and back-to-back walks to Tyler Urps and Kalawaia loaded the bases. Two batters later, Simonetti cracked a double to the wall in right-center, bringing in three runs to extend the advantage to 4-0. Lake Erie continued to pile on with two more runs in the third. Brandon Murray led off with a double before Cody Lenahan launched a ball over the wall in right-center to push the Crushers lead to 6-0. The ThunderBolts began to mount a comeback in…
