Crushers End Four-Game Slide

O’FALLON, MO – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, ended a four-game slide with a 4-2 win over the River City Rascals on Wednesday night. The Crushers (24-31) picked up their first win in the second half of the season while the Rascals (29-28) saw a four-game winning streak come to an end. For the second night in a row, the Crushers struck in the first inning. Jordan Dean launched a ball over the wall in left to bring in the first run of and give Lake Erie a 1-0 lead. The Crushers opened up a much bigger lead in the fifth. Parker Norris led off with a single and a walk to Dean two batters later put men on first and second with one out. Connor Simonetti followed with Lake Erie’s second dinger of the night to plate three and put the Crushers up 4-0. The Rascals broke onto the scoreboard in the home half of the fifth. After a two-out walk to Johnny Morales, Brandon Thomas lifted a ball over the wall in right-center to cut the Crusher lead in half, but River City would get no closer.
