SAUGET, Ill. – Lake Erie Crusher Jordan Kurokawa and Evansville Otter Dane Phillips have been named Week 5 Frontier League Pitcher and Player of the Week as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Jordan Kurokawa, who is in his first season in the Frontier League, led the Lake Erie Crushers with a win over the Gateway Grizzlies and also had a no-decision against the Southern Illinois Miners this past week. This is Jordan’s first Frontier League Pitcher of the Week Honors. On June 6, Lake Erie hosted the Southern Illinois Miners for a 3 game series. Kurokawa was able to hold the Miner bats down as he held them to 1 earned run while striking out 5 and allowing only 2 walks. Kurokawa’s 7 innings was enough to help the Crushers out as they went on to win the game 2-1. On June 11, the Crushers hosted the Grizzlies. Kurokawa then also managed a quality start and let the Crushers go to work. He then went 7 innings, striking out 6, and allowed 0 walks.
