JOLIET, IL- The teachings of the legendary Charley Lau, former Chicago White Sox hitting coach and possibly the greatest pioneer of hitting in Major League Baseball, will live on at Silver Cross Field with the signing of Charley Lau Junior as the Joliet Slammers 2016 hitting coach. The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy are excited to welcome the newest member of their field staff next week when players report to the Slammers spring training set for April 27-May 3. Charlie Lau Junior picked up where his father left off. After spending time coaching in the minor leagues, Lau began teaching privately to athletes of all ages. From little leaguers to pros, Lau had one goal: to carry on his father’s legacy. After years spent breaking down the swing of the bat with players like Alex Rodriguez, Lau has become one of the most sought after hitting coaches in the country. He published “Lau’s Laws of Hitting” in 2000, which remains the highest selling baseball instructional book.
