CRESTWOOD, IL – Clay Chapman allowed only two hits as he threw the Windy City ThunderBolts’ second complete game of the year and defeated the Joliet Slammers 7-1 in front of a crowd of 2,691 at Standard Bank Stadium Wednesday night. Chapman and Joliet’s Sean Townsley matched one another zero for zero early in the game, but the Slammers (20-15) broke through first in the fourth inning. Boo Vazquez walked and Carter Bell doubled before Marc Flores hit a sacrifice fly. Bell was thrown out trying to score from second base on the play. Chapman dominated after that, allowing just one baserunner the rest of the way. The ThunderBolts (21-13) tied the score in the bottom of the fourth. Coco Johnson walked and eventually crossed the plate on a Blair Beck single. They took their first lead in the sixth. Tim Zier doubled, Ransom LaLonde walked and Corey Bass singled to load the bases for Beck, who grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored a run.
