CATHCHERS BRING EXPERIENCE TO FLORENCE

Florence, Ky. – The Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, have welcomed four catchers with professional experience to spring training. Isaac Wenrich, who begins his third season in professional baseball, headlines the group. Wenrich came to Florence in a trade last August and hit .250 with 18 hits and 10 RBIs in 18 games with the Freedom. Despite only playing for a short time, Freedom Manager Dennis Pelfrey thought he made a great impact on the team’s season-ending run to the postseason. “He may have only played 18 games, but trading for him could have been the move of the year because he played a huge role in our playoff push,” Pelfrey said. “We expect him to be the same guy he was late Last season when he comes back.” Wenrich suffered a life-threatening heart attack in March, but a fast-acting 13-year-old helped save his life.
